CNA/ HOME HEATH AIDE
Part time position | Must be available weekends | Valid CNA and Home Health certificate required. Pay: $19.25 per hour
Responsible To : Clinic Supervisor and LVN Clinic Nurse
Summary of Job:
Provides health care in the residents’ home; and is responsible to perform services which are supportive and complimentary to the daily activity of the resident.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with pre-admission physicals.
Available to assist the Clinic Nurse and Clinic Supervisor.
Bed making as medically needed to maintain a high standard of care.
Meet the needs of the residents and assist in other health care needs as assigned by LVN Clinic Nurse and Clinic Supervisor.
Keeps alert to residents condition and reports any significant changes in attitude, appearance, behavior and physical ability to the clinic nurse.
Assists with transportation of residents to medical appointments as needed if trained as a Gardens vehicle driver.
Assists residents to physical therapy, Magnolia Grove, Oak Tree Lodge and IL units when necessary.
Works very closely with the Clinic nurse/Clinic Supervisor to expand and follow through regarding residents’ needs.
Documents and keeps accurate records.
Filing.
Attends inservice meetings as required.
Attends departmental meetings.
Notifies Director and Maintenance of any problems with vehicles and golf carts immediately.
Keeps electric and gas carts clean and free from clutter.
Checks and replenishes supplies as necessary in the clinic and treatment rooms with the assistance and recommendations of the Clinic Nurse.
Checks and restocks Emergency Kits in Clinic and IL locations.
Keeps treatment rooms neat and clean.
Checks emergency oxygen tanks – should be ready to use at any time.
Keeps concentrators clean and ready for use.
Reads policy and procedure manual frequently to stay updated on any changes.
Defrost refrigerator and freezer in Clinic as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the LVN Clinic Nurse or Clinic Supervisor
Qualifications:
- State of California CNA and Home Health certificate.
- Current drivers license and good driving record.
- Ability to understand and carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal.
- Ability to accept correction and close supervision from supervisor.
- Ability to maintain a pleasant, courteous manner with residents.
- Ability to work harmoniously with staff and maintain acceptable personal grooming and cleanliness.








Jay Labinger is a Gardens resident, he was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Jay received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College. He attended Harvard University where he earned a Ph.D. He was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Notre Dame. His career has included positions with Occidental Research Corporation & Atlantic Richfield. He is the Administrator of Beckman Institute at the California Institute of Technology as well as a Faculty Associate in the Chemistry Department. He enjoys reading, playing the piano, tennis and traveling. He has published books on the history of chemistry, sociology of science and literature & science. Here at the Gardens, Jay is part of the Conservation & Sustainability Committee the Green Fund as well as many other groups through the Gardens Club.
Jane Hurd is a Gardens resident, she was born & raised in a small town in Arkansas. After she received her BA from the University of Arkansas she moved to California and taught seventh grade English in Porterville CA. After two years she moved to Los Angeles and worked for the Department of Health Services and pursued a master’s degree in public administration from USC. She served as CEO for two Los Angeles area hospitals. She continues to consult as an executive coach for CEOs of healthcare companies. She has served on several boards including Mutual of America Insurance Company, YMCA of Metropolitan LA, LA Visiting Nurses Association and Inland Empire Girl Scouts. Jane is an award-winning author and plays several musical instruments. Here at the Gardens, Jane is part of the newly formed Bequest Committee, as well as many other groups through the Gardens Club.
